Why does sodium hypophosphite clump?

Sodium Hypophosphite is a monohydrate compound (NaPO2.H2O) containing a crystalline water molecule, and ordinary phosphate, sulfate and other crystalline chemicals have a similar phenomenon, that is, after storing for a certain period of time, especially in the air humidity is relatively large or multi-layer stacking and extrusion, Sodium Hypophosphite will produce a certain agglomeration phenomenon, which is called pseudo agglomeration phenomenon. This phenomenon is called pseudo-caking. Usually, it will not affect its use in flame retardant, electroplating, water reducing agent production and other industries. Why does sodium hypophosphite agglomerate and how to prevent it? Here we briefly explain.

 

The reason analysis: 

1, because the content is made very high, usually export grade may do more than 102%. Due to this high content of crystalline chemicals will be more or less with will absorb moisture in the air. When absorbed to a certain extent, the internal physical space, mechanical properties, entropy density of sodium hypochlorite will occur certain changes in the surface moisture will lead to an increase in viscosity, which will lead to certain agglomeration.

2, in the production process, the concentration of the material is thick, resulting in small crystal particles, the heating section inside the fluidized bed is long enough, the dryness and humidity of the material, the impact is not great, but the cooling section of the fluidized bed is relatively short. Under the premise of drying conditions remain unchanged, the material particles are small, it is less likely to be sufficiently cooled, thus causing sodium hypophosphite in the bag caking.

3, another reason for pseudo-caking is that some users in the tray after playing, multi-layer stacking, resulting in the lower part of the product pressure is more serious, which will accelerate the phenomenon of caking.

 

The solution: 

Because of the pseudo-caking, not real viscous caking, so the receipt of external forces, such as handling, impact, shaking, etc. will lead to the disintegration of the pseudo-caking, so as to return to the state of quicksand. Another aspect is that we try to keep the warehouse dry in the storage process, especially in the southern region of the humidity is relatively large, it is easier to produce agglomerated agglomerates. Users are advised not to pile up a large number of, try to put a layer per bracket, which can substantially delay the generation of pseudo-caking.

 

The above is only a physical solution to prevent caking temporary measures, if you want to fundamentally solve the phenomenon of sodium hypophosphite caking. You can add a small amount of anti-caking agent to achieve the state of loose flow. But it should be pointed out. Different industries use different types of anti-caking properties, so this solution of anti-caking agent can only be used according to the user in different application conditions and different models. This solution is not universal, part of the anti-caking agent on the downstream application may have a negative impact, especially the production of aluminum hypophosphite, aluminum diethylphosphite, calcium hypophosphite and other demanding industries, anti-caking agent is not arbitrary use.
